We visit this place often and keep coming back for the following: - great happy hour menu (try the potatoes and choose your own adventure margs) -amazing teas that come out in a beautiful pot -spicy Indian food like chicken and paneer tikka If you really like spicy food ask if they have the habanero sauce. I don’t think it’s on the menu but it’s one of the best hot sauces I’ve ever had

Even though this spot is a bit off the Michigan Avenue traffic, I totally recommend making the detour. Not only is M&L beautiful with its totally transporting British interior, it has delicious pub food...better than anything I had in London. The tea was the best part tbh, and I don’t enjoy tea. The lunch deal was an excellent deal too!

We were looking for a place to eat nearby, and after a quick search, we decided to try Monarch & Lion — and it didn’t disappoint! Since we weren’t too hungry, we grabbed seats at the bar and ordered a few small plates to share. The fish and chips were absolutely delicious and the highlight of the meal. The truffle mac and cheese was good, though not particularly memorable, and the fries were solid. The drinks were excellent, and the service was friendly and attentive. Definitely worth a visit — and do yourself a favor: don’t miss the fish and chips!

Incredible atmosphere. The pretzel fondue was incredible as was the molten chocolate cake - and I am an incredibly harsh critic. I will say the bangers and mash was served with an au jus instead of a gravy but still very satisfying. And the old fashioned had twice as much simple syrup as it should have, but the architecture, the ambience, the service, and most of the food and drink early warrants 5 stars.

Had dinner with a friend here. Food was good, wonderful service and atmosphere. We got the soup of the day, deviled egg, shepherd pie, chicken pot pie, bread pudding and the pumpkin pie. All were very nice.

Our server, M. P., provided an exceptional level of service during our visit. We did not need to request a water refill, as she consistently engaged with us at our table and ensured that my guest's birthday celebration was memorable. The grilled chicken on my Caesar salad was of remarkable quality; it maintained a perfect level of moisture throughout.

They have 2 oysters during happy hour (3-5pm daily) and they were one of the best oysters we’ve ever had! The steak was meh but burger was amazing. They have a 20 burger, beer, and shot deal during happy hour. The 12 “chicken tenders” from the kid’s menu are the 16 monarch crispy chickens and are delicious! It’s not your typical chicken tenders—they tasted more like tonkatsu—the same breading as their scotch egg. We also loved their teas. Very cool restaurant. Indian and British cuisine. Great food. Salad was beautiful with delicious chicken. Brisket burger was delicious. Big, potato French fries. The restaurant itself was beautiful. The bar was great. The tables are very large with nice, large chairs. Wheelchair entrance is to the east of the front door and somewhat difficult to use, especially if you're alone in your chair.
